Sunbrella, the embodiment of everyday comfort and tranquillity.

Weather-resistant, fade-resistant and stain-resistant, Sunbrella fabrics are designed with heavy-duty performance characteristics that make them durable and easy to care for, whether used indoors, outdoors or on the water.

Choosing Sunbrella means choosing a carefree everyday life and an unrivalled quality of life, where comfort and robustness go hand in hand.

The Sunbrella story

Sunbrella is the flagship brand of Glen Raven, Inc, a family-owned North Carolina cotton spinning company founded in 1880.

Founded in the 1960s, the brand took on the challenge of creating an awning fabric that would last far longer than cotton. Over the years, the group has expanded its range, developing new fabrics and technologies specially designed for outdoor furniture, indoor furniture, boats, window coverings and more.

In 1998, Glen Raven strengthened its presence in Europe by acquiring Dickson Constant, located in northern France. Founded in 1836, Dickson Constant is a historic weaving company renowned for its know-how and expertise in manufacturing high quality technical textiles. This synergy has made it possible to combine the excellence of the French weaving tradition with American innovation, making Sunbrella a world leader in the field of high-performance, durable textiles.

Production and Quality Control

The Sunbrella brand is represented in Europe with two production sites located in northern France, in Wasquehal and Hordain. The Wasquehal site is home to the brand's European headquarters, as well as an innovation centre housing the R&D and Design departments.

Quality is an integral part of our business. Each square metre of fabric produced undergoes a whole series of tests carried out by a dedicated laboratory.

Thanks to this infrastructure, Sunbrella guarantees that every fabric is manufactured to the highest performance standards. The two French factories are ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 certified, underlining the brand's commitment to quality, the environment, health and safety.

Research & Development

Our R&D department is constantly pushing the boundaries of Sunbrella textile innovation. R&D spearheads our efforts to improve and refine the durability characteristics of Sunbrella fabrics. R&D also develops solutions for new textile designs, constructions and applications to meet market needs for high-performance textiles.

Design

The Sunbrella Europe design team, based in France, provides insight into the specific features of the European market, while working closely with the American teams. Made up of experienced textile designers, this team has a wide range of industry expertise and is actively involved in creating off-the-shelf collections, made-to-order (MTO) collections and custom projects. By travelling regularly, our designers gather information on trends, design analysis and colour forecasts, which they then share with our production partners. This process ensures that the latest colours and materials are incorporated into every Sunbrella collection.
